I am organising the RYA first aid course this year. (Details below)
Date: Saturday 4th April (the weekend before the cruise)
Location: Woodbridge, Suffolk (can probably pick people up from Ipswich train station if needed)
Cost: £30 (this is half the normal cost of the course as CPAS will pay half the cost)
Start time: 9am Finish at 5pm
Anyone that would like to come please let me know as soon as possible so that I can book places.

| Seeing as I live in woodbridge it seems silly if I didn't do it |

I emailed to say exactly the same thing Stephen!
Jez, I've added you to the leaders forum list (although it's rather quiet). _________________ Why do things at the last minute? There's still 59 seconds you could wait around! |

OK - Just to remind anyone who doesn't know (Pathfinders) the first aid course is for leaders who are going, so when you fall in / get hit on the head by a falling (snapped) mast / get body parts crushed by bowsprits etc, we know to call an ambulance _________________ Why do things at the last minute? Well, as I understand it is mainly aimed at the leaders, but I think it would be fairly reasonable for Year 11 Pathfinders to be included if they really wanted to. Note that we would specifically like as many of the leaders as possible(like, most of them) to have a First Aid qualification.
It is not just knowing how and when to call an ambulance, much more than that, actually - as it is properly aimed at the boater who may not be able to get an ambulance to the scene quickly or easily. It includes lots of useful stuff about dealing with relatively minor injuries, clearing airways, CPR (of course) - if you don't know what that is, definitely go on the course - hypothermia and stabilising casualties for the possibly considerable period before you can get them to professional medical staff.
Worth doing if you possibly can. _________________ 'We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty' (HHGG) |

I know there's a lot more to it than that, hence the ! I just didn't want to have to write a long paragraph with hints to what it might cover
As to where it is, I have no idea - I believe Rob and Sandra mentioned it as being a possibility of having lunch at theirs that day, but I don't know where Jez is thinking of holding it (church / old vic / church hall)? I've also volunteered to pick people up from Ipswich if needs be, I'm hoping mum & dad are ok with that lol _________________ Why do things at the last minute? No, I don't have a clue.
I was saying it might do, but Jez may have other ideas / places to hold it _________________ Why do things at the last minute? There's still 59 seconds you could wait around! |

It's happening at the Red Cross Centre in Woodbridge. Seatrain Sailing are running the course, so it is likely not just to us on the course. When I last spoke to them they had 6-8 places left avalible.
So far only Mark and Stephen have confirmed they want to come. So please let me know ASAP if you want to come so I can book places.
As Jeremy said we want to strongly encourage all leaders to have an up to date first aid qualification. Remember they are only valid for 3 years!

Do any of the other Woodbridge people know it's happening so near? If people need any additional encouragement I'm sure we might be able to offer some sort of food bait in the form of a nice dinner (or lunch if Rob/Sandra can't)
Not sure we can stretch to a week's accommodation for those who live miles away (and then a lift up to the cruise ) but if anyone was that desperate we might think about it!
(I'm volunteering my parents for far too much, i guess it'd be me giving up my bed though....) _________________ Why do things at the last minute? There's still 59 seconds you could wait around! |

All the leaders should have received an email with the details.
But please feel free to prod any of the Woodbridge crowd and encourage them to do it. |

I talked to them about it, and they said they'd do it, but they said they hadn't heard anything about it. Do you have their email addresses?
They are Ed skevington and Adam plummer |
